چکیده

Abstract This study is a continuation of our previous work, which focused on near-wellbore water blockage alleviation by applying thermally cured silane-functionalized benzoxazine to modify rock wettability. In this new analysis, we have demonstrated that the resin can be applied in low-permeability sandstones (approximately 15 mD as opposed 100 200 study) change surface wettability from water-wet intermediate gas-wet. We also curing temperatures low 125 °C (as 180 significantly wettability, indicating functionalization through silane moiety and ring-opening polymerization moiety. drainage core flooding experiments at 2.5 wt.% loading, compared untreated samples, brine recovery increments 6.3 6.9% were obtained for °C, respectively. A maximum 20% increment end-point relative gas permeability was achieved temperature °C. coupled experimental numerical study, conducted wellbore scales, demonstrates potential effectiveness chemical treatment improving productivity field scale. Reservoir simulations indicate 2.9 10.6% improvement deliverability radius 4 16 m,

Wettability Alteration of Sandstone and Carbonate Rocks by Using ZnO Nanoparticles in Heavy Oil Reservoirs

Efforts to enhance oil recovery through wettability alteration by nanoparticles have been attracted in recent years. However, many basic questions have been ambiguous up until now. Nanoparticles penetrate into pore volume of porous media, stick on the core surface, and by creating homogeneous water-wet area, cause to alter wettability. This work introduces the new concept of adding ZnO nanopart...

An Experimental Study of CO2-low Salinity Water Alternating Gas Injection in Sandstone Heavy Oil Reservoirs

Several studies have shown that oil recovery significantly increased by low salinity water flooding (LSWF) in sandstones. However, mechanism of oil recovery improvement is still controversial. CO2 that develops buffer in presence of water is expected as a deterrent factor in LSWF efficiency based on mechanism of IFT reduction due to pH uprising. No bright evidence in literature suppo...

Modelling of wettability alteration processes in carbonate oil reservoirs

Previous studies have shown that seawater may alter the wettability in the direction of more water-wet conditions in carbonate reservoirs. The reason for this is that ions from the salt (sulphat, magnesium, calsium, etc) can create a wettability alteration toward more water-wet conditions as salt is absorbed on the rock. In order to initiate a more systematic study of this phenomenon a 1-D math...

Quantitative Fracture Modeling on Low-permeability Sandstone Reservoirs by Stress Field

A new method is used to quantify the relationships between stress field and primary fracture characters (aperture, density) in low-permeability sandstone reservoirs based on laboratory experiments and mathematical development, through which, quantitative fracture modeling is set up. Using this modeling, we can load it into the stress analysis software (Ansys 10.0) to acquire 3D palaeo stress fi...
